JET LAG
1986 - 2006
After a long life of sleeping, meowing, peeing, and kick-ass head butts, I have finally had to put my big orange cat to sleep. Down to 7 pounds or so from his fighting weight of 13, he hadn't been able to move for a couple days now, too weak and tired to eat or drink. I spent a nice night with him in my lap, then today the higher power(s) were kind enough to sent a nice sun break in Seattle's rainy week so he could lay in the sun for a little while this afternoon. He got a shot of morphine, which I know from personal experience is the best drug ever, and then a shot of something blue that stopped his heart within seconds. Those morphine minutes were probably the first time in years all his old cat aches and pains were totally gone. He was the coolest, oldest cat I've ever had. He went through all my many moves, a marriage, many break-ups, friends, and all the drama that comes with being in your 20s. He was loyal (even for a cat), feisty, and my favorite cat of all time. He lived half my life and most or all of yours.
The black kitty behind him, Tusk, is only a year younger, but doing just fine. Now we'll get some quality time. But I'm still a weepy little girl and I still miss my cat.
