Stuck at home tonight because I'm nearly immobile due to the
pummeling I took playing soccer the other evening.
My friend and I take to the field thinking a "friendly" game is in store(all we see is some faculty and students from a local university). Well, appearances are fucking deceiving as I was kicked twice in the leg by a math professor who appeared to be catatonic for most of the match and repeatedly tackled by a small gang of Japanese students whose physical appearance certainly belied their on field aggression. This has made work a complete bitch the last
two days-my nickname is now Limpy McGinty to my cube mates.
In case you're interested, here's what I'm reading/listening/watching these days:
reading: England's Dreaming-the most compelling and rewarding account of the early history of British punk music
I've ever read. Birthday Letters by Ted Hughes-ugh very sad stuff there, read only if you dare risk ruining a good day.
listening: British Sea Power-The Decline of British Sea Power
not bad, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Neko Case(looking forward to her show in SF next week!)
watching: Man on Fire-I resisted for so long and now I know why; La Strada(2nd viewing)-a must; Lone Wolf and Cub series-the best fucking bloody swordplay movies EVER.
Well, that's all folks. Have a very lovely Thanksgiving!
