I keep telling people that I just moved here, to San Francisco, when in reality I've been here nearly 6 months. Half a year. It's incredible to me that I've been here that long.
This city is still a giant mystery to me. It's small but dense. I still feel this sense of pride when I make it somewhere and back using only public transportation. The urge to give into a cab is all too strong most times.
When I moved here, I only knew my cousin and her partner, but it's amazing how SG provides this built in social scene wherever you go. Thanks to the lovely members and ladies of Suicidegirls.com in the Bay Area I feel like I'm starting to meet some really wonderful people and build up a social circle again.
After nearly half a year here, I finally painted my place, decorated and got a roommate. She is also a sassy redhead from SG land, @barbary . I'm glad to be sharing my space with someone who doesn't mind my OCDness and most importantly my loud, late night romps ;).
We even threw a "house warming" party that somehow mutated into a rager. It was amazing, and although I got smashed super early, puked and passed out in my bed before the party ended, I still had a great time. Thanks to all the amazing people that came and partied, you know who you are, and you're all rockstars.
I also went to my first Folsom Street Fair. @chloe came up to treat me to this San Francisco tradition and even though she kept referring to it as the dong parade, I'm not sure anything could have prepared me for the amount of wieners I saw that day. As soon as I saw that everyone else had all their bits hanging out with pride, I decided I would practice a little freedom too, and so I took off my shirt and went topless.
When I got tired of people asking for photographs I just put my shirt back on. @chloe and I have decided that wherever we wind up in the world and no matter how many years have passed we will meet at the Folsom Street Fair every year.
@maddigan also joined up with me @Chloe there ! She's a babe and another awesome lady that SG has brought into my world.
Speaking of awesome SG babes, I got to meet the international rockstars @waikiki and @albertine who are both nothing short of amazing and every bit of fabulous as I could have imagined.
While they were here they introduced me to another SG babe, @buellher. Which was one of the best introductions that a girl could as for. @buellher is a doll and the night of my housewarming party turned rager she was there to hold my hair back and find a receptacle for my vomit, I knew then that she was keeper! <3
This is @yoyo (also a doll) , @buellher, @waikiki and I having a laugh. @thistle took this photo, and is also another babely SG I had the pleasure of meeting!
Overall, I'm beginning to like it here. There's some things that I think I will always miss about Los Angeles but San Francisco is growing on me!
Lots of love,
Moxi
