Last week of school.. the kids are out early for the rest of the week, and then "summer" begins Mind you, the leaves are slowly coming out on the trees and my Iris is beginning to poke out from the ground, but it is still at least three weeks before I will feel comfortable about planting outside. Something about getting killing frosts in early June...
Its been a pretty mellow week so far, which is a good thing. I had a pretty bad incident Saturday night that scared the bejesus out of me.... I had been fighting a migraine for about 4 days and managing to keep it to a dull roar...but by mid Saturday at the SCA event, my head finally tried to knock me over. I ended up taking an imitrex and it did kill the pain pretty quick....however, by Saturday night it was causing a horrible drug reaction...creating the worst emotional state I have been in for quite a while. It was a BAD time to be away from my Hubby or anyone who could hold me and get me through it. I wasn't suicidal, but it was the type of the "end of the world" depression that just lays you low and then sits on you. I survived, but I didn't start getting my mood stable till the drug wore off around 2 or so Sunday afternoon. Then I went off and did a rather stupid thing...
I am allergic to onions....yes, an odd food to be allergic to, but nonetheless.... It cropped up as an allergy not long after my daughter was born. She can eat them just fine...my Hubby says that I gave her my ability to eat them, and he may be right Anyway, I went to TGI Fridays Sunday afternoon before hitting the road back to Fairbanks. Silly me ordered the nacho platter. I did ask them to substitute the fresh Pico de Gallo for guacamole, thinking that they used the standard guac mix that most places use (I can do dehydrated onion, just not fresh, even well cooked...). Well, for those who care, Fridays uses their fresh pico as the base mix for their guacamole. I ate the whole serving of guacamole and part of the second before I hit a piece of fresh onion that was big enough to get my attention....I love onion....Ugh. I got the pleasure of riding in a truck for 350 miles while dealing with the residue of the mood swing and then the hit to my system from the onion.... My system is finally feeling better, but it took a whole 24 hours to ease the cramping and then another 12 before I could eat food and make it not make me feel like I was on a boat in the middle of a stormy sea
I'm back to normal now (whatever the hell that is) and now I am trying to get some sewing done. I finally figured out what design I want to do for my next medieval dress. I don't want to work on another Tudor until my weight loss stabilizes and I can do the tailoring needed for a corseted dress. Considering that I had to take out 6 inches on my last Tudor underdress, I don't want to cut into my expensive velvet until I am SURE that my size won't adjust that much.... Paranoid me So, instead I am going to make this style dress:
I am revamping one I made long ago (resizing it down) out of royal blue trigger and then I will make a slightly fancier one out of a rich chocolate brown linen. Both will have a red wool petticoat and pin on sleeves out of a nice brocade. I know, I know...for those of you who do not do medieval recreation, or sew, this is pretty boring, or just downright Greek No biggie...
I am also finally starting those three dresses for my friends wedding in early July. I get the first gal in to measure and make the muslin mock up on Monday. I am nervous about such a big project, but I am sure I can do it....
All this on top of making a tent cover...am I nuts or what? And yet, this is how I relax! And just to make Sunflash cringe....I am redoing the blue dress BY HAND That gets him every time....he cringes so nicely
Anyway...off to Joanns to get the muslin while it is on sale for .79 a yard.... Have a great weekend everyone!!

Totally jealous!
OMG I'm glad you're okay though. I used to have a very mild allergy to onions but have since grown out of it. It's funny though, I don't like them much so it's one of those "no fair" type things. I like them heavily cooked only. (or battered and deep fried )
Enjoy your weekend.
