You know what? I don't care what anyone else says - I think M. Night Shyamalan is a really good storyteller and, maybe I'm just a little dense, but I never get clued in to the ending before it becomes obvious. It's always a surprise, and I like it that way. There are very few moments in my life when I not only don't want to know something, but actually enjoy not knowing something (until it's time) - and watching a well-written suspense movie is one of them. In short, The Village was good. Go see it if you can.
Only four more days now until I leave for Burning Man. I'm going to spend the whole week with one of my best friends that I never get to see (he lives in California) and his way cool wife AND I get to wear whatever I want, check out some amazing art and ingest a variety of chemical substances. I can't wait - really nervous to fly though. I hate it that I can't enjoy the anticipation of my vacation because I'm afraid of airplanes. I never used to be, but in the past few years I've become acutely aware of my own mortality. Don't know what triggered it, maybe just getting older. Logically, I know that I'm safer in a plane than I am in a car or even riding the el every day. But, emotionally, I have a white-knuckle grip on the arm-rest for the entire 4 hour flight. Yikes. Would it be wrong to down a few cocktails before 9 AM? Surely not.

I'm patient, and she's worth the wait.
Enjoy the fuck out of Burning Man. I always take a Xanax before the dentist, so I see absolutely nothing wrong with drinking before the plane.
