Have I mentioned yet how much I love being here? It's so great to be able to blog without any family, co-workers, students or parents of my students being able to read it. Finally I can just vent and let go!
ZEN FOR THOSE WHO TAKE LIFE TOO SERIOUSLY: HOW MUCH DEEPER WOULD THE OCEAN BE WITHOUT SPONGES?
So I am completely stressed out from work. It is recital time and if it's not a crazy enough time as is, two things are happening to make it worse. First off, one of the costume companies fucked up our order, and, long story short, we may not be receiving said repaired order until the day before recital: FUN! Secondly, my boss switched one of my classes from the Saturday show to the Sunday show. When she asked me if I had informed the parents of the change I said yes thinking she was speaking of another class she did the same thing to. I was wrong and now have one of the mothers up both our asses about the change. And now my boss is yelling at me saying I don't communicate with the parents, which I do, I just misunderstood which class she was speaking of. It's a big mess....
So now that I have the bullshit out of the way I can speak about a weekend of epic proportions. My parents took Coby Friday night so Chris and I went out to dinner at Olive Garden. I love going out on dates, it's just a nice peaceful thing to do. Saturday night was the Whalie Awards - which is our area's version of the Grammys. I wasn't able to go, but Chris kept me posted of the goings on. Chris's band was nominated for 3 awards and won 1: Best Punk/Ska Performance. I think they shoulda won all 3 but nonetheless I'm extremely proud of him.
SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY was FTW! After dropping Coby off with my sister it was off to Long ISland with Stressbomb for a show with Sloppy Seconds! For those of you who are unaware, Sloppy Seconds are like the love child of Leftover Crack and NOFX. They formed in the mid-80s, but I didn't get introduced to them till '02 and have always been a fan since. I've never gotten to see them before Sunday so you can imagine my excitement. Brandon actually described me "like a 5-year-old that just discovered Coca Cola." I don't remember the last time I had that much fun or went that crazy at a show and it was brilliant. We got in at 7:30 AM. I posted some pics of it in my "Shows and the hell we raise at them" folder. I also made a new folder called "Photo Shoots" which are some pics my amateur photographer friends have shot of me over the years. Take a look
Here's one from the Sloppy Seconds show of me & lead singer B.A.

I was on Cloud (and probably beer) Nine.
Well I've got some shit to do maybe I'll see some of you in chat a lil later. Cellar door.
