Fantasia International Film Festival has been going on for the past 5 days and everyday it gets better and better. I waited with a friend on the first day of tickets sales. Standing in line for about two hours and it was worth the wait. Got over dozen tickets for the festival and probably going to pick up more in the next few days.
The first film I saw was "Attack the Block" it's a UK film about Inner city kids vs Aliens. One of the funniest I've ever seen. It opened up with the short film "The Legend of Beaver Dam", meet with director Jerome Sable. Both are a must see! After the film the staff of Fantasia give everyone a free seat to see Deadball, a Japanese comedy/horror film. I'm never going to get used to seeing Japanese films. It was very interest to say. Meet with director Yudai Yamaguchi's and actor Tak Sakaguchi.
Sunday, we saw three films. First was the anime film "Legend of Millennium Dragon" and after meet with the producer Kazuteru Oshikiri. It was interesting to hear him talk about all the research that was involved with it. Sorry to say that the film wasn't the best I've seen but not the worst. The film felt a little to long, and story seems to be lacking. Second film was "Another Earth" a great independent film. Got me thinking about if there was a second Earth and how I would deal with meeting my other self. Then finished with "Bleak Night a Korean film. "Bleak Night" is so far my favourite film that was present at Fantasia.
Last night I saw the independent film "L)ve". The film is about a man stuck in the International Space Station and his battle for his mind. Amazing film and fantastic score. Angels and Airwaves did all the music for the film. Stayed after the film to meet with first time director William Eubank and actor Gunner Wright. Both which are very cool people. The Q&A was worth the wait. It's amazing to see what you can do when you put your heart into something. Can't wait to pick that up on Blu-ray and worth all the documentaries that are included on it.
Looking forward to the next film and the next one after that!
