So, Wednesday afternoon Nic is playing Viva Pinata and I'm reading The Cat's Pajama's, a collection of short stories by Ray Bradbury, when I hear a very strange noise. I could not tell where it was coming from, but it sounded like a heavy amount of snow falling/sliding down the roof or like someone trying to restart a snow blower. Gary camped himself out in the fireplace, so taking a flashlight I stuck my head into the hearth and after seeing nothing, went back to the couch and Nic to take a look just in case I missed something.
Not two seconds later, a bird flew out of the flue. A grackle to be more specific. And all of the cats were trailing it around like a four-part shadow. Nic opened the front door and the bird was smart enough to fly out.
I'm very pleased that my head wasn't in the fireplace when the bird flew out.
