Finished the AIDS walk today. My team raised over 2,500 dollars. Yay! The walk route was easy (1k I believe) but it was freezing out. Oh well. There was an amazing turn out of people, over 1000 is my guess.
While this was a great day, the night before last was not. I swear someone out there was out to get me
I woke up with an awful cold (that I got from my neice...children are germ fests) and a co-volunteer ended up calling me, wanting me to take her 12-9 am shift for the crisis line. Ughh. She had done me a similar favor earlier on in the month...so I took it.
Midnight roled around and all I wanted to do was take a neocitrine and pass out. So there I am, sick as a dog and bored as hell...when I see the glow stick bracelet I had bought early that week at the Parkdale Street Dance. I started cracking it to see if it would still glow, and the thing broke open and squirted all its neon liquid in my eye (and then dribbled in my mouth). I ran to the sink and spent the next 20 minutes alternating between flushing out my eye, gagging, and sobbing.
The rest of the evening my eye was swollen shut, and even when I woke up the next day I could still hardly move it. Now its fine, but dear god I don't think I have been in that much pain in a long time.
All good now though, and that's what counts.
