UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!
ok, we went to the against me! show on friday here in houston and it was un-fucking-believable! the last time they came into town the show was at one of the larger "punk rock" clubs here in town and the show was terrible. the venue was too big and the crowd was too young, but this time it was at a much smaller place and the crowd was completely different. instead of a bunch of 17 year olds being there just to be there, there were lots of punk rock kids. this made me very happy. anyway, against me! went on and tore it up. we all danced and sang with arms around complete strangers until we were ready to pass out.
so we got up the next morning and headed to SXSW. i had never been to sxsw before so i wasn't really sure what to expect. i was expecting that we were going to have to pay a shit load of money because we didn't have a pass but we didn't have to at all. to all of you that were thinking about going to sxsw and didn't get to go let me tell you, GO NEXT YEAR. there are SOOO many places that that had great bands playing that were charging no cover at all. now that i know what to expect i cant wait to go next year.
ok now for the bad news. we were waiting for a friends band to go on and when they started we must have left michelle's brand new camera at the table and it was stolen by the time we went back.
THEN we went to see against me! play again that evening at emos. it was a SXSW show so it cost us twice what we paid the night before. then a friend that was there with us was kicked out of the club for "being too rough". WHAT THE FUCK?!?!? then, the crowd decided they wanted to rush the stage and sing with the band. this is nothing new, we had done it the night before with no problems but the emos staff decided it didn't like what was going on and cut the show short and told all the kids to go home. NEVER GO TO EMOS!!! EVER!! against me! should have never been playing a fest like SXSW anyways. SXSW is good for very small indie bands and major label dipshits. the small idies really do make the fest worth while though.
