Today cartainly has proven to be posativly.... Bunny Filled.
I'll Start from the beginning...
Long, lousy day at work. I hate it there. During my breaks I made calls on my cell trying to get a hold of the people I need to register with for this thing at the jewelry store.
Here's the run down.
It's a program set up by the city to encourage buisnesses to hire youth between the ages of 16-24 I think it was.
They assist in paying wages which allows the stores to put extra time into training.
My boss has said that even if I don't quialifie for this assistance she wants me working there anyway. This will just help things out.
So finaly I managed to get an appointment for tomorrow at 10:00, This means I can tell the photo lab on monday I don't want to work more than one day a week which will come into effect the following monday. Which means I only have to work for one more week there before my main job is the jewelry place!
I noticed a customer making repeat trips to the meat section so I guessed it was cheap meat day. Once I was finaly done work I made off with the Hitchhiker's guide' posters and went to see what I could scavange.
Made off with two steaks and a side of pork ribs for about $12. Gotta cut up the ribs and freeze em.
Bunny encounter #A; There was rabbit in the reduced meat bin... I've been watching alot of Survivorman latly and last night he snaired a rabbit and described in detail 'rabbit starvation'
Rabbits are very lean. The meat has no fat. If you try to live off it for a month or so, you won't get any of the fat you need to survive and can suffer from 'protein poisioning.' Unless you eat everything, guts, bones, eyeballs and brain.
I'd heard of it before but not an actual description of why.
So anyway, rabbit in the reduced bin. I was kinda curiouse... But meh. Not feeling that adventurous tonight.
So I got home and put a steak on to marinate in some balsamic vinigarette dressing. My favorite way to do steak.
I needed to get Bernie some crickets so I tromped off to the pet store. I also needed Potatoes so I figured I'd stop at this new 'Produce town' place on the way back.
Cute Girl Encounter #1; Looks like a cute girl I've seen shopping at the grocerie store is working at the pet store now. She's really really cute. And I think the daughter of a.... Russian orthodox priest if I'm not mistaken... They were a family that wanted my mom's advice on home schooling.. because my mom was kinda the home schooling crusader back in the day... Priest's daughter... Could be a major turn off... Or possibly turn on if she's rebellious at all...
But I get my crickets and trek back to the Produce Town... I had not been in there before.
But my sister thinks she saw one of the girls from our old homeschooling group driving one of the delivery vans, which may very well mean they're getting their produce from local sources. Like that particular girl's mother, who I know grew alot of vegetables.
This is the kind of place I'd want to support
Whatever their angle is, they are inexpencive beyond all belief....
Red peppers are $2.99 a pound at work. 0.49 a pound there. 10lbs of potatoes are $3.99 at work. $2.29 here.
Cute Girl Encounter #B; A short, short haired little thing whom I think was a friend of my first boyfriend. I witnessed her 'shoot down' one of her Co-workers.
He asked what she was doing after work, she said going to dinner with her mom... I wonder how truthful that was... But anyway. I go to the checkout to pay for me 'taters. She happens to be my cashier. She asks if I'm still working at loblaws. So she either remembers me from Blake or else I developed her pictures at some point. But the important thing was she was chatty...
So I make me way home.
Bunny Encounter #2; Just turning onto Van Order Dr. A lil brown bunny runs out of the bushes onto the lawn of the house on the corner. It was kinda reddish on it's backside. Really pretty.
I get home. Eat dinner, have a beer, feed Bernie. Then Digger freaks out at something in the back yard. It's the same black and white kitty that was there the other day. I call him over. Pet him... I'm not sure if he's lost or what. He has one tag that looks like city registration, then what looks like a ring where there was another tag. But I'm pretty sure he lives close by. I put some food out for him anyway. he dove in and ate about half of it. But not all so he's probably not lost. He hung around. I sat in the back yard with him enjoying my beer. He jumps up into the weeping willow. for some reason.
I decided to go in... Then after a little while Digger freaks out again. I look in the back yard and see a skunk run by. I figure the kitty (Matt as I have come to call him) Got sprayed. I'm hearing this noise. Sounds like birds. I began to wonder if Matt climbed up into a tree and pulled some babies out of a nest or something. I hear it go off into the distance and figure that's the end of it. I hear ir again. I wanna know what it is. Mebby I should rescue it if it's not too injured... Maybe it's a baby skunk... Hrrrmm.
Bunny Encounter #C; I hear him thumping around behind the neighbour's fence. (they're away for the season.) I shine my flashlight into the bushes and there's this lil tiny bunny.
He was making all that noise. The only time I had ever heard of bunnys making a sound was when they were being eaten by a snake. And after you hear that you apparently never feed your snake a live rabbit again. If it doesn't almost kill your snake. I had never heard it myself though... But man the set of lungs on this lil bunny! I chase Matt away and reach in to pick up the bunny. My expirience with them is that they just freeze right up when you grab em, and he did. I bring him over and put him in the cardboard box I had over turned incase Matt needed a shelfer.
I just wanted to make sure he wasn't injured before I set him off. Also wanted to let him go a little ways away from where Matt had him.
He was ok. Might have had a bit of cat spit on his butt but that was it.
I set him in the lylacs and he ran off. Hope Matt didn't find him again.
So that's been my day. Two days of working at the jewelry store and then it's the weekend.. I hope it's not wasted like last weekend. I gotta round someone up to do something with.
I've been kinda down latly.. No drive to do anything, or succeed... I keep thinking about if I want to go to NY for school or not... I don't know what I want... I used to be excited abouut it, now I'm not excited about anything. Even this job.
What the hell do you do when no matter how many people tell you no matter how many times about how great and wonderful and special and talented you are, it doesn't make you feel good about your self? I think Ineed these people to quite talking and prove it. Girls to stop leading me along for a while then telling me it's all wrong when I try to take the next step.... Grrr.. Ok that was my little rant session... I'm gonna clean up a bit. Mebby have people over on the weekend...
