We we went out to my dad's yesterday. Nan wanted to show her friend where we grew up, go swimming in the now zebra mussle infested lake.. Well not infested yet. Bbut getting there... My poor lake...
My dad owns a cabin resort. That was where I grew up.
14 cabins, people come for a week or two at a time.
Most of them the same people, same time year after year for generations back, from when my grandpa ran the place.
They come, they fish mostly.
There were kids. The regulars became my friends. Though days before internet made keeping in contact difficult.
For all of my friends from the cabins I had.. I have collectivly known them each for less than a year when you add up the one or two weeks a year that I've been able to easily see or talk to them.
But for the regulars that have been comming forever, they were all like neighbours.
Last year or maybe the year before we went out to visit while all the cabins were filled with people who have all been comming at the same time for years,
One family now has T shirts made for everybody in all 14 cabins who comes around that time.
They bring ski boats, there's a traditional anual potluck.
It would have been about 8 or 9 years since I seen these people.
Since I moved into town I seldom got the chance to go out to my dad's, never mind try to arrainge to be there when people i really wanted to see were there.
So they're all happy to see my sister, talking laughing asking how she's been.
'm just kind of standing there quietly. Now with hair down to my shoulder blades, camoflauge and big freaky round glasses. and nan says "Yeah and here's Dave." And the one guy who always took me tubing, and I always loved his boat extends his hand and says "Hey Dave, nice to meet you."
I was kind of speechless and Nan's like "No no no.. It's Dave!" and everybody just freaked out.
it was quite hilarious...
So this time we went and everybody knew who I was this time,
It was awesome to see everybody. So we swam because it's been ROASTING here last couple days. Went to the potluck. We got lazy and just brought two boxes of Timbits instead of cooking. But everybody there loves timbits. It's the treat they get when they come up from the states.
Then we went out on the boat for a bit. Saw Red Horse Rock. From which the lake gets it's name.
I think I'm going to get some of my dad's Red Horse Lake souvenier shirts he has made for when I go to school. Not one for hometown pride really. But a bit of home to take with me.
I fished for a bit. Caught one teeny tiny small mouth bass. Way too small to keep. Isn't worth the meet on his bones. But it was fun. After that we pretty much headed home.
Today work was boring. As usual. But I saw my old art teacher. I've seen her shopping a coupel times and might have otherwise offered good customer service. But this time she had to get a CD made from her digital camera card. So while I helped her out, i casualy asked if she was still teaching at KCVI. Then told her she had taught me and she actually remembered me.
turns out her second love is jewelry making. Though probably on the same level as I am. It was great to have a little chat with her. It was pretty encouraging because she seemed to expect that I was studying under someone as an aprentice and it makes me wonder how easily I could find one.
So Maybe for this last year before school, and if I end up not going for whatever reason. I could still continue on my jewelry path.
That left me all warm and happy.
Then tonight my friend Jenna and I went to see Batman............................................................................................... Freaking...............................................................................................................Awesome.
That is all I say. You must seeeeeeeee.. SEEEEEEE!!!!
Then after i got home. I took off my silk shirt and draped it over Digger, just to be a jerk... He didn't find his way out. He jumped down off his chair onto the floor with it still over him and Widget came into the room, just about crapped herself. She did not seem to understand it was Digger. Eyes bugged out, hair poofed up. Then he tried to go after the treats mom was throwing. he could see them and smell them then would extend his paw, still stuck behind the silk, Tried to pull it closer, then tried to eat it through the silk. He had no luck. he sat there, stuggling for a little while, sort of enveloping more treats into the shirt to no avail. Finaly he got out. Widget wasn't sure what to think.
Oh man it was funny.
So now I sit on my duff... I should go get ready for bed.... Muh... Work tomorrow...
*Grumph*...
Mmk night night all! I suggest everybody in the northarn part of US southern part of Canada start stocking up batteries, bottled water, Anything you need. I predict another blackout. Never seen batteries sell out so quickly as the last one.
