Well, it seems we'll never know the secret of Inter-fish tank wormhole travel now (See previous post). As the second of our beloved mystery fish has passed. I found him floating Wednesday morning, I think? This week is a jumble. The other fish all seem ok.
Aww well.
Ashes to ashes, fish to dead fish.
We cleaned the tank out on Friday, then went to get the thing we're supposed to be using to clean it. Some little siphon vacuum thingy. This way we only take out some of the water along with the poop, then top it up after.
We also looked at more fish.
We were all psyched up about getting the Bubblecheeks. But after the girl stared at them in the shop for a bit, she decided they kinda creeped her out and shed be afraid of their cheeks popping.
But in the same tank as the bubblecheeks were these funny looking fish that had no dorsal fin! They looked so weird, kinda like little whales.
Next time she's over we'll go get some.
So I'm happy to report that my inspiration is returning to me. I'm going to need to invest in some new equipment before I can do everything I want to. But I think it will be worth it.
Much of it came back Friday night after I started listening to my Iron Maiden and Nightwish CDs, thumbing through my old drawing book whilst drinking profusely.
No terribly creative ideas at the moment, just kinda crafty ones. But I'll give it some time. New equipment should expand my capabilities enough that more ideas should seem doable.
I need an oxygen tank, propane regulator, make sure my oxygen regulator works or else I need a new one of those too. That will take care of one of the ideas. Then I'll need an arbour with silicon carbide grinding wheels, sanding drums and a rig to bathe them in water.
Ideally I'd have a precision low speed drill. But I think I can do without it.
I'd love to get an electroplating set up, but I can't afford that.
I'll see if i have a market, then see if this local place will cut me a deal on large quantities of items to plate.
Not sure how well this home made furnace idea will work. Might give it a shot, but I think it'll end up just being a means of containing the heat from a blow torch, not even sure it will be hot enough.
I've got what I need to try it, may as well.
Tempted just to go out and get this stuff on my next day off. I'm getting stir crazy. But I'd really like to pay off all my bills first, then get my new credit card because that will give me points towards a discount at work.
Well, that's it for now.
