So I now officially work for Nikon. It is pretty sweet so far. They sent me home with a D40 SLR camera to play with the other day. But it was right before the long weekend that I had a camping trip planned. I didn't really want to lug it with me because we were packing light. But they lent my house mate who also worked there one of the compact models that has an underwater housing. We got a few interesting shots with it but there wasn't much to take pictures of underwater where we were.
All in all not many memorable pictures from the trip. I'll have to go through them all and pick out the best to post in my albums.
Great trip though.
Three of us went. My house mate, my friend whom went on the last trip with me and myself. We had one tiny, tippy canoe. So I let them take that with all the communal gear to the island, while I hiked through the park to a peninsula near by where they'd be able to see me and come back to pick me up once they offloaded everything.
Nice hike. Very rough trails through an area that had a few mica mines. Found a piece of what I think is beryl too. Came across a couple girls sprawled out on the ground at the peninsula. We kind of startled each other and they seemed quite content to be left alone so I didn't try too hard to put on the charm.
The fishing was good. My house mate caught a little bass not long after we got there. We cooked it up with some wild rice mixed with chicken bullion and garlic. It was awesome.
The nights were cold. But I'm surprised my ranger blanket wasn't enough to keep me warm. I had to get up and start the fire again in the middle of the night just to warm up.
The next day I was feeling particularly adventurous. I had been wanting to collect some large cray fish and mussels to try and cook up. Maybe even some frog legs. So I went off to look for stuff around the island. At the opposite end from where we were camping I was flipping rocks, hoping for some nice cray fish. I happen to look up and see three large bass in the shallows. I run back to get the guys with the fishing rod. When we get back we see a HUGE bass swimming around. Looked to be around 5 or 6 pounds. Likely more like 3 or 4.
nothing big was biting. We stayed there for a good while too but slowly lost interest.
I came back a couple times during the day. Saw the big one a couple more times, tasting my bait but not biting. Caught a little guy like the one we had the day before, he knocked the frog off my hook right as the big one was right under me. I was pissed.
So we had another taste of fish with dinner that night. This time with a mixture of lentils rice and barley with beef bullion, garlic and onion. Very tasty. We played cards and smoked cigars then went to sleep. Another cold night.
Got up, ate a small breakfast, packed up and headed back. We saw a little small town diner on the way there with a cheap breakfast advertised. We were really craving one of those greasy diner breakfasts. The place turned out to be nicer than we had anticipated, and were actually kind of disappointed in how nice it was on the inside. Not exactly rustic. But still an amazing breakfast.
We got home. I went over to mom's because I was really missing my cat's all the sudden on the trip. Cuddles and napped with them for a bit and came back here. Next day at work they took the cameras back and today I got another but it's just a lousy little compact. There weren't enough SLRs to go around this time.
I think I'm going to buy one sometime though. We get a good discount.
Maybe I can get some SG's coming out of Kingston if I offer my services. I really like using the manual focusing and such. Today we listened in on some of the calls on the floor. I think I'm going to like it just fine, and the paycheques will be nice.
Also, when the head guy comes up from NY he spoils everybody.
Some hot girls working at the call center too in other departments. The rest of the building is cell phone activations and stuff. Really boring and lousy. Anybody and their dog can work there. Really trashy looking people all over the place too.
One pretty cute girl has taken a liking to me. I hope to run into her on the bus again tomorrow.
Sarita's most recent little boytoy works there too. Every time I enter a room with him we lock eyes briefly. I must be shooting daggers because he looks kind of freaked out every time.
Meh. Fuck him. Never felt such an irrational hatred for anyone like this before though. I seriously think I'd beat the shit out of him by any means available if I got the chance.
The weekend before I started, I had a friend's sister over for dinner. She's drop dead gorgeous. Short, cute and kind of a hardass. We ended up making out until about 3:30 in the morning. But I'm not sure what's happening now. She's in school and she's either not interested enough to see me any more or else really is too busy and 'stuff' now. We'll see how it pans out.
Hopefully I'll have some female company one way or another this weekend.
Payday tomorrow! Yay!
