So the gem show was yerterday. This was my second year volunteering there.
The last two years I've gone I bought lots of gems. This year it was all about the rough material. I talked to this crazy guy who shipped off to Shri Lanka(SP) when he was 19 and learned to cut gems. Then he went to Brazil, has hordes and hordes of quartz. He sold me some nice chunks of rhutilated quartz and hooked me up with two girls.
I also bought three small slabs of tirereye from a buddy there. Seven dollars.I know I'm going to get alot of gems out of them and I know what I've spent on tigereye cabs at less than retail.
So I think I'll do pretty well for myself with it.
I'm getting anxious to get back into the club and cut some stuff. I have those core dills, and the diamond blade for the hand saw. I want to try carving designs into the backs of some quartz cabs too.
Maybe next year I'll have a table there. Or at least have some nice gems for theart show comming up.
ALICE COOPER ON WEDNESDAY! He said on the radio that he wants everybody in costume. I'm thinking my cloak and chainmail. Maybe my dragon mask and claws. But it's hard to see out of that thing.
I'll see what kind of pictures I can get.
Camping on the 21st! Me buddy, his buddy and I are gonna go out and really rough it. Nothing but warm clothes, Machete, E-tool, fire starting equipment, my little stove because it's easier to boil water on.
I'm just bringing my warm blanket, they might have sleeping bags.
We're gonna build a shelter and a fire, and that's it.
My friends dad brought him two British ORP military rations, and our other friend's gonna eat Canadian. Eewwww Canadian rations. I might be nice and give him one of my american ones.
This will be fun... Starting to wonder if I should bring my sleeping bag. I'll have to get it washed.
Then I start teaching on the 26th! I hope some hot girls signed up for the course this year. Mmmm nerdy rock-hounds.
I think the course in february has even filled up too.
Not much else happening. Just rescued a vicious looking spider from half of a burger king Poke'Ball which he could not seem to crawl out of. Then as I released him from my little bug tube he lunged at it.
I suppose I could have just closed the Poke'ball loosely, then chucked it at someone for instant good times.
Meh. Worky today. Maybe those girls from the gem show will come in. I'm supposed to fix a rough edge on something they bought from the quartz guy.
That will be an ounce of excitement.
Have i ranted about Princess auto yet? It rivals the Army Surplus store for the title of my favorite store.
There's a bunch more things I need to go get from there again already.
They have that heat gun on for $14 and I kind of want that die grinder. I could make my own metal molds!
Anyway. Freaking awesome store.
Me gotta go shower and get ready for work.
I will update again after Alice Cooper, at the earliest. Maybe after camping.
