Had some fun at rehearsal tonight, working up a cover of "A Boy Named Sue" for a Johnny Cash tribute album we've been asked to contribute to. Our version starts out sounding kind of normal but then gets really heavy a few verses in, totally different from how we've been doing it on stage all these years. We're hoping to record the basic tracks live...

Yeah, most of the time I forget I'm not 8. wink
But it's nice to feel adult in a good way sometimes.

Actually Tori doesn't even like "Boys for Pele" since she was in such a grumpy place when she wrote it. It's actually probably my favorite. "Caught a Lite Sneeze" is probably my favorite of all her songs. It's definitely a different sound after that.

That's wonderful! You should definitely keep me posted on that, that'd be great to see come to fruition biggrin

Thanks once again for your further comments in the Poetry Kicks Ass group...in particular thanks for reading the works closely enough to offfer a critique! I will take another look at the pieces with your comments in mind. I hit the link for your web site and it's very nice - very clean! Good luck on the job hunt!

Thanks for the book tip! Many years ago, I read "Lucid Dreams" by Celia Green and was amazed at the prospect of having them deliberately. Once in a while I can do it.

Good luck with your work. I appreciated reading it here.

Actually I haven't heard the Rutles! More things to look into smile
I ...eh. Stylistically, there's kind of a mood each one of the individual Beatles has. The Ringo mood tends to be more silly and it's kind of jarring on some of the albums. If there were, say an album of Ringo and some of the other sillier songs, that would work well for me. I'd probably even actively like his stuff!

The music for the Monty Python stuff is awesome, I'll have to check that out! My mom teaches a "humor in music" class periodically, mostly focusing on classical stuff. One of her favorites is a classical cover-album of Beatles songs. It's just freaking bizare playing "name that tune" with Beatles songs, and having it take 30 or 40 seconds minimum.

I thought Crushbucks was where you took your car to be disposed of... or maybe that's CrushBuicks, I get confused. Don't want to mix those two up, lest you be the one that gets disposed of!

Good gravy, that's depressing. Rubber Soul and Revolver for example, had such a flow to them which I just can't get into on the CD version. It really explains a lot but ...man! frown
Okay, I'm going to have to reexamine this issue now...hmm.

That's too funny! I got bad family news fairly recently, so I've been hearing people say "we're here for you" so much I didn't know what you were talking about for a minute there. That's just awesome, you made my morning. biggrin

Do you have any of his CDs/DVDs? A friend of mine loaned me a tape of the HBO special for "Dressed to Kill" and shortly thereafter I went stark raving nuts and tracked down a place to get all his CDs. The one where he explains about the first time he bought makeup was the one that put me on the floor. biggrin

Sometimes you just gotta boogie down, you know what I mean?

With all the stupid stuff going on with Michael Jackson lately, it's refreshing to go back and listen to these great tracks from the '70s... Shake Your Body Down to the Ground, Dancing Machine, Hum Along and Dance, Off the Wall, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', Blame it on the Boogie... all this stuff I...

You can go to Gavallia.com and order the goods there. I saw an infomercial one night. Damn the mystical power of the infomercial! Although I hear they really do have decent coffee, plus I'm a sucker for anything flavored.
Call me crazy but I think Michael is innocent...I can't help it. He's just off.

Mister Rogers just died... frown

'Mister Rogers' dies at age 74

Funny, I thought he would have been older than that... 74 really doesn't seem that old to me. Most of my grandparents lived much longer than that. My favorite uncle is about to turn 70 himself.

I used to LOVE his show so much when I was a little kid in Chicago. The idea that...
