well, got back from england last night. good trip.

left dallas on wednesday night. got to london gatwick on thursday morning. rented a car. drove to central london. that was a riot. we were laughing our asses off the entire way at how crazy it feels to drive on the left. then driving in the city. forget about it! all those round-abouts mixed in with your natural desire to move to the right when you drive: danger! danger! high voltage! ha ha ha.

that afternoon, we started pub crawling near trafalgar square. i probably just butchered the spelling. sorry. good times. these ladies kept coming up to us saying: "you guys have funny accents." our reply: "uhm, actually you have a funnt accent!" right! we had dinner at a pretty good indian restaurant called the mint leaf. very good! then we hit a few bars and crashed around two in the morning at the st. martin's lane hotel.

woke up the next day and started driving down to southwest england. stopped in andover and had lunch at a pub. yes, fish and chips. i know. but we sat outside. it was a great day. beautiful, like 69 degrees. awesome. i can't figure out how we ended up getting so faded. then we made our way through all of the small villages near tisbury to where we were staying in a village called hindon. at the lamb inn. basically it's just a room over a pub. but cool.

the rehearsal dinner started about an hour after we got there. it was in ansty. really good time. especially since the english don't even typically have a rehearsal dinner. yet they loved the idea of a party before the party. it helps everyone get to know everyone. i made a toast with a little texas flavor and it made me some friends instantly. they loved it. ha ha ha.

we spent the better part of the night back at the lamb inn. the bar tender was kind enough to keep the pub open as long as we wanted. which was four a.m. about six locals stayed to party with us. very nice people. so i kept my tab open for anyone to drink on. we had a blast. it ended with about twenty drunken people throwing the frisbee in the middle of the streets. some with less clothes on than others.

saturday was the wedding. that morning we got up early and drove to stonehendge. spelling again, sorry. that was cool. though it was funny. we got lost. stopped at a village to ask where it was. this guy we asked replied: "stonehendge?" as if he had never heard of it. "oh you mean the big pile of rocks?" uhm, yes. we made it there. it was cool to finally see. and obviously a religious experience for a few of the people there. though not us.

we had to be at the wedding by three. it was a small church in ansty built in the 12th century. the 12th century! unbelievable. i felt like i was on the set of 'the lord of the rings' or something. it's even possible that i may have gone hobbit hunting and cow tipping later in the night. but that's another story. the wedding service was long but good. it kept my attention. i had a reading, which was cool. texas flare, baby, texas flare! they had a big pig roast at the wedding reception. again, very cool. we sat at a table with about six single english ladies. we all had a blast. we later taught them the finer points of texas. thus, they are all coming to visit us in a few months.

the band played. we drank. we danced. then the dj came on and we had to highjack the first song. yes, we hung the dj and made him play 'you never even call me by name' by david allan coe. some call it the perfect country song. consequently, all the texans immediately ran to the dance floor, singing and shouting their asses off. the english were in awe and soon joined us, having a blast! we taught them how to two-step. too much fun. then the dj started playing his own stuff and that just cleared the dance floor. so, we attacked again. only this time, a little hip-hop. fitty cent. again, everyone was back on the floor. laughing, dancing, drinking. good times.

i went and got twelve bottles of champagne and we took them back to the lamb inn with all the girls we had been partying with. again, more good times. but as you know, what happens in hindon, stays in hindon.

jolly good then! cup of tea!
