1400 miles in 4 days. I went to Cherokee and Ashville North Carolina. I saw a Cherokee village from the 18th Century and Biltmore. Both were awsome. One of the Cherokee speakers said that the number 7 is sacred to the Cherokee and that they always wore turbins and not feathers. They also perform some of their dances counter clock wise. For these reasons the speaker said that some of the Cherokee believe their people originated in the middle East. The speaker also said that the Cherokee are a clean spoken people and it is impossible to curse in the Cherokee language.
Biltmore is one of the largest private residences in the US. It has 250 rooms, sits on several hundred acres of estate, and has several walled gardens. I can't ever imagine being comfortable in a house that large, but I'd like to try it just to see.
I then traveled to Colonial Williamsburg. It's the original capital of Virginia and it has been restored in many places to what it would have looked like in 1774. There are dozens of people in period costume around the town that will give you a speaking tour of the buildings, who lived in them, and what they were used for. While I was there I sat in on an 18th Century trial where one woman was prosecuted for "keeping a disorderly house."
I also went to DC to visit with cousins and check out a monument or two.
