When I was younger, so much younger than today… wrote some barely known musicians in the 60’s. This is my poem about growing up, I didn’t need any Help!
Written for @rubymoon as the winner of my competition (sorry I took so long, I definitely didn’t just hurriedly write it in the last few minutes)
begins
I wonder what life would be like in reverse? Starting in grave and then moving to hearse.
Having your knowledge, your people who care. Your triumphs, your failures, the woe and despair.
Starting that way wouldn’t make any sense, like the time I saw squirrels dismantle my fence.
A gang of them came and took out the screws, carried it off, it was all on the news!
They took every bit they caused such a mess, anyway where was I, I really digress.
Start at the beginning a baby that’s new, crying and eating and covered in poo
It’s life there before it full of laughs and surprise, like the time I got my nuts caught in the zip of my flies.
As you get older and beginning to age, it’s strange how the small things can fill you with rage.
A slow moving truck or a drink with no ice, a hole in your pants or a fly on your slice.
These things aren’t important, our life here is short, take care of your loved ones these things can’t be bought.
Life it is fleeting so we should live for today, while the sun is shining it’s time to make hay.
Ends
I ended this poem with a proverb although the words were in the wrong order. As with all of my recent poems there is unfortunately a reference to someone shitting themselves, in this case a baby!
