So I had this dream.....
My dad was an archeologist, or something and he invited me to go to his digging site. I decide to take Tank with and we show up, ride a tram/light rail type train to get there and he gives me the tour. He started working and I tell him I'm gonna walk around for a bit. Wherever it is that we are is all sandy, and it's this huge open space with massive holes dug into it, and there are various people working in these holes. Tank and I go walking along and Tank starts to slip.. the sand of course just gives way under him and he starts sliding down, but gets caught up in this safety net thing. So I pull and tug on his leash and try and coax him back up the hill, but every step he takes just slides away under his paws and he's basically stuck. Finally I slide down to join him, bracing myself agaisnt the safety net thing, and untangling him from it before I lift it and we slide down to the bottom of the sand pit.
This hole is like the size of a football field and I dust myself off before I start strolling around. I kind of wander by people that are working in these area's and for some reason they have their dogs with them too, all hound/sporting types, so Tank is uber excited and ready to go, tugging me along as usual. I pass by this one guys site and he asks, "What kind of dog is that?" And I call back, "Catahoula." He didn't hear/understand me, and asks me to repeat it, but when I go to say it again.. I can't. That was probably the most vivid part of the dream, I couldn't force the sound out of my throat, my lips weren't working.. and I struggled with it for awhile too, but finally he just kind of nods, as Tank is dragging me away anyways.
Eventually we found the built in path/stairway out of the pit and we continue exploring, but Tank forever wants to return to that first pit where we had seen all the other dogs. As we pass near it again, to return to my dad, he bolts right at the spot where we had fallen in the first time, but this time he jumps the safety net and keeps running. I chase after him and the guy that asked about Tank to begin with turns and he's watching us, and when I get close to him, I shout "He's a Catahoula!" while I can, like I finally now have the courage to say what he is and I just scream it before my voice chokes up again. Weird, but anyhow. The chase continues, I finally grab his leash again when he mixes in with the other dogs, and the guy comes over to me... "I usually see red ones around this area, how come this one looks like a horse?" So I'm all.. "He's also part Plott Hound." While the guy is like.. "That must be the stupid part." And I'm like totally offended, of course.. but I just kinda smirk and nod agreeingly.. "Yeah, he's not that bright."
Then apparently everyone working in that pit decides that it would be a good idea if I gave their dogs walks, with my dog... so then I'm being dragged around by all these sporting breeds and we end up at the tram stop, just outside the digging site. I'm kinda going along, and letting these dogs pull me whereever they want, but when we get to the stop, and the train is approaching they all just stand and wait patiently for the train to come so they can board it. When we do get on the train, they pull their leashes from my hands and they kind of disappear into the crowd. I don't really seem to mind this, it just allows me to take a better look at the people that are standing around me, and notice how they are all wearing the same thing.
Everyone is wearing white shoes with white, blue/red lined knee high socks. The men are wearing white shorts, while the women have blue skirts on and everyone has a white suit coat with a blue, red, or white, button up shirt/tie. I don't really recall what I'm wearing but I had my normal tennis shoes on and, it felt like I was wearing black. (You know.. when you wear black and everything you see out of the corner of your eye is black, because you are basically seeing your shoulders and it's giving everything a shadow.)
Anyhow, the train stops in front of this not-exactly-ancient, but far-from-newer looking church/school? thing, It's made of red brick and there are various religious symbols around, it also seems to be in the middle of nowhere in a forest. When we get off the train they are separating the men and women, and I'm included. These older people, nuns and priests, all wearing their garb, begin leading the women, (who appear more like girls now) to one side of the building, while the boys, (men at one point) are taken to a different side. We meet up again in this gymnasium thing and we are all forced to sit on our hands, girls to one side of the room, boys to the other. The priest starts preaching and the whole room starts to get very restless. I unfortunatly wasn't listening very closely to the preacher guy, I was watching all the kids, and the nuns that lined the room.. I recall it being an anti-sex speech, it was the reason we were going to be kept separate.
Then we were turned loose. Well girls to their dorms, the boys to theirs. For some reason every single girl (had to be like 40 of us) volunteers in a spy mission and we're all sneaking through the halls. When we get to the pool they boys (about the same amount) are already there swimming and having a blast, so the girls join. In this moment of freedom I'm included into certain circles where the cutest guy, and the most popular girl are pointed out to me. Both of them were blonde. Then the nuns and priests come rushing into the pool area, I've come to think of them as teachers now, and they start scolding us. We're separated again, boys to one side of the pool and girls to the other side. They for some reason call these two blondes out of the pool and lead them off... and I'm suddenly aware that every one of us has some horrible terminal illness. I'm not sure what happens next but these two kids grab onto each other and make a break for it, barricading themselves in a room. A room with a window that looks right over the pool area, like a hotel would have. The priests begin screaming at each other in frustration because they can't get into the room, and everyone in the pool is frozen stiff, just watching and waiting to see what happens next. They eventually come out the window, there's a lot of screaming and we all rush out of the pool and back to the train. While we wait for it to arrive Tank is with me again and the white clothing of everyone else fades away, and we all return to men and women, smiling again as we board the train to leave.
