Next up, Arcade Fire and Air.
Wow to both.
Arcade Fire are now the best live band I've ever seen... Literally lighting up the stage with incredible production design, they're energetic, catchy, incredible musicians and the violinists are pretty cute. The rather mixed crowd seemed a bit controlled to start with, but after some egging on they really got into it... the highlight being Wake Up, of course, at which point I decided that if church was ever like this, I'd probably turn religious.
Air... I'm still on a high after seeing them at last... best way to describe them live is that they come off like a '70's psychadelic wigout band, and are a simply fantastic and characterful technical pair. A girl I spoke to on the way to get my coats suggested they were closer to Pink Floyd than anything else, although... I don't know, maybe more Yes? Semantics aside, it was the sonic equivalent of a smooth single malt being poured into my ear canal - golden, tasty and warming. Also helps that they rock out like motherfuckers now and again... genius!
I feel spoilt... no gigs for a while unless I buckle and see Beirut... but what a week...
