saw hitchhikers guide last night. here's my synopsis. *
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
i laughed quite a bit. i didn't care for zooey deschanel as trillian at all. her acting was terrible and she was too young for the role. sam rockwell kicked ASS as zaphod. he was hysterical. although i didn't care for how they handled his two heads. i actually really liked mos def as ford, which came as a big surprise.
the love story with trillian was pretty bad. the scenes with slartibartfast were amazing. the vogons looked exactly as i pictured them. marvin's appearance didn't do it for me at first but really grew on me and had me laughing the whole film. alan rickman was of course the perfect voice.
at times i felt like i wasn't watching a movie so much as a bunch of folks running around having a great time and goofing off. sometimes it felt like the movie wasn't going anywhere, but i knew it was. the stuff with the improbability drive was great, especially when they were yarn puppets and arthur vomited yarn. and i was very very pleased that the whale and the bowl of petunias were included.
but at the end i felt vaguely dissatisfied. perhaps i'm just waiting for them to get the restaurant. i know they made the best movie they could, and douglas adams was involved. they tried to make it for the fans and new people, and i think they did pretty well. i laughed and i was never bored.
* if you don't feel like reading all that: i liked it.

and in further, exciting update news, i have a very long gray hair growing up out of the center of my head. the countdown has begun.
but the fact it says 'secret garden' right now means nothing.
