she said "remember when we met on my doorstep"
and i stepped silently in tune with her
shuffle shuffle shoes
her pants catching all manners of debris,
like a sweet sweeper, from the cracks of wet pavement.
We brushed shoulders with the air
keeping enough molecules floating between us
that our skin was caught dancing under moonlight
waiting for that accidental touch.
we were a marching band of minuscule proportions
slipping past windows, with blank faces
blindly staring out as if we weren't there.
our parade was contained within a three foot stride
our bodies were an orchestra.
her hand pressed into mine
and we became a quiet chorus.
That day is just a Polaroid grown yellow with the time
but I can still make out fingers holding fingers
and I can still hum a couple of those lines.
