So I'm stuck in the office because my car's stuck in the garage having it's MOT and I've noticed that the only two entries I've put on this blog (every 2/3 months, regular as clockwork) are about how crap I am with women! And while this does give you a fairly accurate insight into my life, I thought I'd tell you a little more about myself to flesh it out a little.
Ok, so. I'm 34 years old, originally from Surrey (just south of London) in the UK. I was married for 4 years, and I've been divorced for 5. (Told you I was crap with women). I now live....nowhere. I work as an aerial photographer, which involves me flying around in light aircraft all over the UK and New Zealand, shooting all sorts of stuff, from government buildings and installations, to stately homes, to schools of whales. Which all sounds pretty cool, and it is, but the best part of the job is, thanks to the fantastic british weather, I get the winter off because it's too dark and shitty to fly!
So this year I took four months off to travel round S/E Asia, Indonesia and East Timor, trying to start up a seperate career as a travel photographer. I studied photography for 4 years at University (a looong time ago!) and was all set to work in London as an advertising photographer. Sadly, London and I both agreed that it really wasn't going to work out between us, mainly cos we hated each other. So I took the logical next step and became a diving instructor.
I lived in Ibiza for a while, instructing and loved it. But it's a tough job to make much of a living out of, so I had to come home.
I'll gloss over the widerness years of loser jobs that followed! But there were a lot of them!
And now I'm here, with the best job I could wish for. It's getting a little more tricky at the moment, because business is suffering slightly, like everyone elses But fingers crossed we'll come out the other side. I hope so, I've got a plan for 4 months in Argentina this winter!
If you're wondering where this year' shots are, I'll post them up here as soon as they're sorted. I'd dearly love to get your opinions on them. There are some great photographers on this site.
So, that's a very abridged version of the last few years. If you've made it this far, I can only assume it's friday and you're waiting to go home.
Love to you all.
