WHAT IS UP?
I'm bored as hell. I've been crazy busy at work lately, and it has be exhausted, but at the same time, I'm restless. This week, my personality was described as "chaotic."
It's been a weird couple of weeks. Since the last time I posted, I had a ridiculous weekend with too many friends from too many circles all visiting and not working out at all. There was one substantial night of drinking and all-out obnoxious behaviour. I felt like I was in an Irvine Welsh novel.
That night was followed by a day that I wish had gone otherwise. I intended to go to the Siren Music festival all day and just pass out on the beach when I was tired, but I ended up not getting there until pretty late due to the fact that I wasn't alone. Most of my friends did the same thing. The issue was that I had friends in Manhattan who kept calling to find out when we were meeting up...and my friends could not figure out what the fuck they wanted to do at Coney Island. I was hungry, sleep deprived and irritated.
Eventually, after playing hostess for far too long, I freaked the fuck out on the lower east side. I patched things up with everyone over the next couple days, and much was remedied by my favorite all you can drink brunch spot, but the whole experience really bothered me. I don't like to be a diva or a nutcase. I just want to be able to chill out and have a good time. I've since tried to incorporate more sleep into my schedule.
Since then, I have had more silly drama and had to go to far too much trouble to see The Dark Knight. I realized that I didn't have any good friends who were comic geeks. This also bummed me out. I want to be able to see the preview for The Watchmen and be excited.
I also had a rather humorous experience trying to see MGMT for free at McCarren. My friend and I waited in line for 3 hours, through lobsterburningsun, cold rain, and too many smokers to get in.
I have to say that I really enjoyed the Ting Tings. MGMT were good, but the funniest part was that they performed "time to pretend" worse than any of their other songs.
Tomorrow, I intend to make a trip to the Mercury Lounge box office to stock up on tickets for upcoming shows. If that doesn't work out, I think it will be another crazy weekend omen.
