I would agree with both of them. I have shoot with both makes, for me I am used to the Canon and it works better for me since I am more comfortable with the controls.
Full frame is better in the long run. The one thing you shouldn't do is settle for a camera for now. I have 3 right now and looking at getting my new one in the next month or so. I have each for different reasons, depending on what I am shooting, if I am doing a video, location, ect. I am one that doesnt believe there is one camera that is good for every situation or shoot. If you are going to stay with what you are working in now sounds like getting a D60 is a good choice for you, but only you can decide what will work for you. Its just like a car in a way, just because someone else likes how it drives or looks doesn't mean you have too. Just like a car dealer a good camera store will let you "test drive" them in the store and give you time.
