Again with the delays! I'm horrible. But my life has been very very busy.
Firstly, I finally quit my stupid job. Honestly, it was killing me and they wanted more and more. At some point, I thought to myself, "hey, you know what would be cool? Trying to work it part-time and go to school full-time!" I put out some resumes and Stone Brewery (one of my favorites) got back to me. Assuming I pass all their crazy tests, I'm hired and I start the 21st.
However, I went to Anime Expo this year. I had the most amazing time. I got to see a bunch of my friends, play some Para Para 2nd Mix (I'd only ever played first!) and generally be myself. Andrey was also there for one of the days, which meant oh so very much to me. But there's a reason I prefaced this with a "however"... and it's not just for dramatic buildup!
While there, I went on the tiniest of spending sprees. I had gotten my bonus, so I was feeling rich. I knew people would be trying to get rid of some Gothic Lolita items, but it was at the back of my mind. At the fore was NANA, which I've become reobsessed with. However, I couldn't find anything I liked... the pickings were slim (I saw an artbook and some weird knockoff looking BLAST items). After that, the next order of business was a HINOI Team CD/DVD. No luck there. So, with money burning a hole in my pocket, I went off in search of gosu rori. And oh did I!
I wandered off to the Celga booth, since on my first pass, I'd spied Baby the Stars Shine Bright items for sale. There, the cutest girl (who I just discovered is an SG member) and I had a brief conversation re: a certain ring that I lusted for but was too big for everyone's hands. Knowing that I am lazy, I could have bought it and had it resized, but I would never get it done and this beautiful ring would languish forever in it's box while I watched it wistfully. However, she did have a very cute blackxblack round lace headpiece that was just right. I paid her and skipped off to the ladies to try it on. Like a total dork, I forgot to take the tag off, which I realized later. Dur.
After that, I noticed someone selling a cute dress on a dress form. I ran into another person I sort of knew (I'd met her through a friend at the premier of Kamikaze Girls in LA I attended a year or so ago). We chatted about GL and I tried to persuade her to buy a top, which ultimately did not work. However, it looked like everything was clothes and anything that fit my waist was not going to be long enough. But, out of the corner of my eye, I spied a small round plastic container with some pink paper in it. I'm so drawn to pink! I asked about it. It was three Baby necklaces and a hairclip from Victorian Maiden! So, I picked out two necklaces. When paying, I got a smidge of incredulity from the woman running the checkout. The Japanese woman in the maid outfit was staring down this tall blond haired American girl in jeans and a dress shirt, otaku-sweaty from how oppressively hot it was in Anaheim (and all over SoCal) that weekend, buying not one, but TWO, necklaces from a gothic lolita company. I just smiled brightly and nodded again.
I almost skipped off. I was so enthusiastic about my purchases. My first brand items, all mine! Very exciting! However, it's totally reignited my four year love for lolita, at a time when my stores of time and money's about to get tight. But c'est la vie... I'll scrimp and save and find a way. I'm hoping to take pictures of me in all my stuff soon. Maybe today if I can persuade Andrey to do it.
