Looked at three houses yesterday, two of which suit my needs quite well, but it's difficult to try and apply for anything since my room-mates are all out of town and we all have relatively compromised credit. We've got an incredibly reliable co-signer, so we'll get a place, but he is also out of town and so on and so forth. I'm starting to feel like I should just wait until everyone is up here and in dire need. Then we'll find something. Hell, I dunno that doesn't sound like a very good plan.
I'll probably be spending the better part of this week up in Corvallis... er, down in Corvallis preparing, building and decorating for our big Ice Cave Party on the 21st. Making the inside of the house into an ice cave (surprise) with chicken wire and bunting and plastic and spray paint and smoke machines and rope lights and fake snow. I'm quite looking forward to it.
And then of course Two Towers on Tuesday night. Whee!
I finished reading The Picture of Dorian Gray yesterday. Loved the first hundred pages, didn't really like the rest of it. Rather predictable and not terribly interesting after the picture started changing. Neat idea though, and some good writing for sure. Wilde is very quotable, which I always enjoy. I'll probably go back to Hemingway next.
Another Wilde quote I dug: "Good artists exist simply in what they make, and consequently are perfectly uninteresting in what they are."
I'll use that as my justification for being a hermit who just wants to sleep most of the time... Although I guess I should try to back that up with some good art.
I'm working on it.
Much love to all my bruthas and sistas out there.
