I joined this site years ago. I joined at the New York Big Apple Comic Con when I saw a group of women that were awesome to talk to. Offhand, I know I met @Suri, @Auriga, @Epiic, and @kiley. I actually got to hang out with Suri for two weekends that year and the first weekend was maybe one of the greatest days of my life. No, not maybe, it was an unforgettable day it was so good.
I first learned about SG by finding writers checking it out AND staying up late to watch HBO and Cinemax. I don't know if I saw the Real Sex clip or if I watched The First Tour first but I saw them and my thirteen year old self had something new to think about. Learning more about the site (before I was 18 and old enough to join) I really liked the outside looking in position I had where I liked the ideology. And the naked women. Seriously, the most stunned moment I ever had was meeting @porphyria after having seen Basement Monster on the internet and having her ask me where I got a print of Arkham Harley being called a slut by Comics Harley at a comic convention.
I got to meet and talk to a lot of awesome people because of this site. I've been able to learn a whole lot of things I never would have been able without the site. I've grown as a person. Last night, I got to see the new Burlesque tour. So I've come full circle.
Here's some photos from last night.
Why do I use the term graduation? I always think of this site as something you can get out of life. Eventually, what you've got is bigger than what you've needed. I can honestly say I've gotten everything I've needed from this site. If anyone wants to hit me up, my email is matt@doublebarreltheatre.com
If anyone has read this this far here's what my life advice is to you: Don't miss out on living today to live better next decade. Eat that ice cream, vape that shit, go out when you're tired. Set your goals and live to meet them but worrying about something so long down the line is not going to make life better. Unless you have that gambling spirit to put your money on double zero on a twenty year long roulette spin, live better.
Peace
