Today was my first real race back after nearly two months off the bike with what can only be described as "the Great Plague of 2004 that lived in MK's lungs and/or brain and/or entire body and made him totally and completely worthless for seven months."
A long name indeed, but trust me the plentiful modifiers are necessary.
So I had my ass handed to me today, and it hurts. I wasn't ready to race yet, I shouldn't have raced, but I did. Luckily, I missed all the trees (nearly) and I attacked on a hill (dearly) towards the end and salvaged a top 10 finish.
"Hey, not to shabby," you might say.
"I was supposed to win," I might respond.
I was beaten by a guy who, pre-microbes, would finish about 10 minutes behind me.
There is work to be done.
*edit* the neighbors upstairs are listening to "Desperado." .... fuckers. I shall blast them with Ted Leo!
