On Tuesday, just about the time I finished my last journal entry, it started to rain. And it rained and rained and rained. Scott went to Ryan's after work and I was supposed to pick him up. No biggie. I left to pick him up and should have known there was a problem when our lake was overflowed into the road. I got out on Gateway and started heading west. The road was flooded and I was barely making it through. By the time I got to Military Trl, it was impassable. Cars were stalled out all over the place. I turned around and decided to try going up Congress. I got onto Congress and it was raining so hard I couldn't see. Congress was flooded as well and I decided it was too dangerous and turned around. I called Scott and told him the situation. I turned on the weather channel and we were the lead story on the national weather news. They said we had gotten 7 inches in 2 hours and water was starting to enter businesses at Gateway and Congress. MY INTERSECTION was the lead story, not just my city or county or state, my intersection! We were having flash flooding. My screened in porch was flooded. BJ ended up driving Scott home in her SUV. There was no other way.
The next morning was gorgeous and sunny, but everything was still soaked. Turns out we got 11 inches of rain the previous night. About the same time on Wednesday night, the rain started again. We only got 3 inches, but it had nowhere to go, so we were under flash flood warnings again. Uncle Joe was at Maggie's parents in Fort Pierce, so he missed the whole thing.
Uncle Joe and Maggie got back on Thursday afternoon. I was at the beach and they joined me. We went to Amigos for dinner and drove to City Place to see what it was all about. It's a pretty sweet open air mall, but that's not what we wanted to do, so we went to The Ale House and got drinks. Then we headed home so Uncle Joe could watch the basketball game. I was really sunburned from the beach, so I went to bed. Scott stayed up with them and then after they went to bed played World of Warcraft. About 1:10, Dexter started woofing out the patio door. Scott heard a noise and went to check it out. Someone had cut our screen open and was trying to steal our bikes. They took off without getting anything and Scott called the police. Then Scott came in the bedroom to make sure I was okay and our window was locked. He told me what happened. I was very upset and freaked out. I had to take a sleeping pill to get back to sleep.
Friday morning I went to The Watershed to fill out my new hire paperwork and take my ID badge picture (all sunburned). Then I ran home, picked up Maggie and took her with me to Alfred Angelo to order my dress. I tried both of my favorites on and decided on the first one I had tried on previously.
I made her try on bridesmaid dresses. After that I had to go to this doctor's office in Boca to do my drug screen and PPD. I had a hell of time finding the place. It was like a maze. I found it though and peed and got stuck and headed over the Scott's office. I went with him to Office Depot. Then I headed home and watched some Soprano's with Maggie and Joe. They had never seen it before, but i got them thoroughly addicted. When Scott went home, we went to Old Key Lime House, the oldest waterfront restaurant in Florida, est. 1889. It was sweet in a tiki bar sort of way and had good food. We'll surely go back there again. We got back and Scott zonked right out, in his clothes, contorted on the bed. I watched some more sopranos with Maggie and Joe and then went to bed.
Yesterday Joe and Maggie flew out. Ryan and BJ brought their maltese, Monty over for the weekend while they go to Orlando. Dexter knows him from staying with them when we went to New Hampshire and Thanksgiving and so he was very excited to see him. Since then their playing has mainly consisted of Monty trying to hump Dexter.
I was crampy and started ragging, so I didn't feel good. Scott convinced me to go shopping (it always makes me feel better), so we went to Target and spent way to much money. I bought the cutest white cow ceramic creamer on clearance.
Then we came home and Scott made Thai Peanut Lo Mein in our new wok. It was yummy and then I played Metropolismania 2 while he played WOW. It was only slightly different than Metropolismania and maybe a little less user friendly. After that we watched the rest of Ratatoulli. It was cute. Then we went to bed.
This morning the dogs woke me up early. I took Monty out to pee. I made coffee but realized we forgot to buy creamer. I woke Scott up to ask him if we bought creamer. He said no but offered to go get me some. Meanwhile, I finally emailed Taylor the pix of the Alef Clan from when we all went to dinner in August. Scott came back with creamer and Panera bagels, yum. I got to use my new cow, yay!
I think the rest of the day is going to be pretty quiet. I have to go to work tomorrow morning. and
