Update: I just got off the phone with a very good friend of mine who is also a dancer and choreographer. We talked for, get this, three hours. She thanked me profusely for phoning and I feel exactly the same way. Both of us needed to reach out and connect with each other's knowledge of the art and of living that type of life. We talked politics, bullshit, arts talk, dance talk, planning, administration......I tell you, right now, I feel totally RENEWED. I remember why I am doing this and what matters most AND we've totally got plans to make connections and dance together this summer.
Ok. Here's Mere getting real here. I've got through this numerous times. It's never easy. However, the bottom line is Do you want to give up dance?
NO.
I can't.
I'd die.
Dancing is the fabric of who I am. It is my primary mode of expression, freedom and where I feel the most comfortable and beautiful. If I gave it up, I would be a shell. Even motherhood cannot sustain me alone.
That IS the bottom line. If the rest of the world can't handle that choice, so be it.
