The last few weeks have been amazing. I needed it badly. For my entire adult life I've always been gone all over the globe, mostly in the garden spots which don't lend themselves to tourism, but I've been fortunate enough to have stops in places along the way.
Last year was one of major growth when circumstances outside of my control led me to stay home. For the first time in my entire life I spent a whole year in one country without crossing a border. I was not a fan but it made me realize how much of my life quality goes into traveling. So this year started off much better already and I've just recently completed the second to last leg of a 20,000 mile flight path that took me from beautiful central coast CA all the way far into the Middle East and now back through western Europe.
Let me be the first to say it out loud - Paleo only works until you get to France. Then you're done. I've been stuffing my face with bread, pastries and galettes like I'll never have another chance to. Good God this stuff is so much better than anything we get in the States. All the ingredients tend to be fresh and locally sourced. There's literally no need for a Whole Foods or a Trader Joes here because you can follow the farmer's market around from village to village every day to get your shopping done.
The people are super friendly and although French is one of my three languages, I've apparently developed a noticeable but hard to place accent. Which is hilarious because when I talk to people I can see them trying to figure out where I'm from.
Anyhow, it looks like things are going to pick up from here when I get back to CA and I'm looking forward to adding another 50,000 or so miles to my frequent flyer account before the end of the year.
I'll leave you guys with a picture from the bakery this morning.
