WARNING: The following blog contains a rant of epic proportions.
Tuesday night. Stone Temple Pilots at the Gramercy Theater. A 550-person capacity venue, which had more than half of it's tickets go to label execs, family, friends, and radio station winners (according to the guy who tried to keep me from bum-rushing the doors when all of the above mentioned people cut the fucking line).
The problem with that is: I arrived at the venue 5 hours before the doors opened, was then moved from the covering of the marquis smack into the cold, windy rain within 15 minutes. Despite the new friends I made while waiting on line (a line that I was 4th in), the time didn't go by faster and the temperature didn't rise.
Once inside, I found out that waiting on line for 5 hours does not get you in front of the stage, but it does get you behind the label execs who cut the line. And this is the point where I lost my temper.
After exchanging unpleasant words with one of the largest douchebags I ever met in my life, things got a little physical. Later on in the show, another fuckface felt it was okay to shove me out of his way with his elbow in an effort to not spill his beer. Don't get me wrong, I'm no stranger to the moshpit. In fact, I jump in whenever I can and have experienced elbows, knees, and feet many times before, but this was uncalled for.
More colorful terms were let loose and round 2 almost began. But instead of pissing away more time arguing with a dickhead I decided to enjoy the show rather than wasting my breath.
In the end, this was one of the top 3 shows STP has put on in the countless times I've seen them. Indeed, S-T-Motherfuckin'-P brought the house down!!

hookups96:
I haven't seen them in forever... really wish I would have known about this show, that venue is soooo tiny for them.
