Today's Spooky Movie Blog is for the Netflix Original movie "Before I Wake".
1. Before I Wake is about a young foster child who's dreams become real each night that he sleeps. This can bring beautiful things to life. But it can also bring terrors to the real world... and take from the world. A true nightmare. Beware the Canker Man.
2. This was a beautiful film. The CGI and visual effects were very appealing and pretty. This was technically a drama/fantasy movie. Not a horror movie. But I'm still including it in the Spooky Movie Blogs because the plot was pretty spooky. But if you are looking for a visually appealing suspenseful movie. I highly recommend this one.
3. While this movie has it's spooky moments and it's jump scares (very mild)- it does not have gore. So if you are triggered by graphic blood and gore scenes this may be the movie for you. I have always enjoyed a good gore flick in the past. But this year as I do the Spooky Movie Blogs, I am finding myself more uncomfortable with excessive blood and gore. I'm more interested in a movie creating fear in the unknown and unexplored. What lies out of sight in the dark...
4. I'm rating this movie 85/100 meaning 85% of the time I loved it. I think the beginning was just a bit drug out. It seemed to go on a bit too long for my liking before the actual story we were waiting for took place. And I felt the trailer for the movie put more of an emphasis on the parents being panicked and trying to keep him awake than what really happened in the movie. I expected a little bit more panic and urgency. I don't know if I would recommend watching the trailer first. I feel the trailer gives away a lot of the main body of the movie. Thankfully it does not give away the tender ending however. Those are really my only complaints. I enjoyed the rest of the film.
