Well...my Ohio shower was this past weekend. Want to hear about it? Here it goes.
You may have seen heard that my grandfather died last week. My parents decided to hold his memorial on Friday, so we could come and other family members could attend both.
All was going well. We stopped at the outlet mall and got myself some clothes and Evan new boots and a new coat. On the Ohio Turnpike, about a half hour away from my exit, my car lost power while going 75 miles per hour. Thankfully there was no traffic at the time and we were able to coast over to the side of the road. I called my dad to let him know what happened. A cop pulled up behind us and called a tow truck for us. It was about 4pm then. The memorial was at 5. Yeah we were going to miss it.
The tow truck driver came about a half hour later. I was of course all freaked and crying. This was not how my weekend was supposed to go. The tow truck took us to a near by Hyundai dealership. Thankfully their service was open until 5:30 and we got there before 5. But as soon as I come in, one of the mechanics says, 'Oh we can get it in for Monday.' Yeah that wasn't going to work. I talked to the service manager and he made sure to put a rush diagnoses on it...for tomorrow morning.
So there we were, stranded at a dealership in Streetsboro, OH...with my entire family at a funeral so no one can pick us up. Evan and I sat in our broken car for a bit and discussed some things. Then we went and looked at new cars. We settled on a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. Finally got to leave the dealership around 8 pm and got to my parents around 8:30. The service manager called me back the next morning, letting me know that from the computer reading of the check engine light, the timing belt and crankshaft sensor went out. They would have to take apart the entire front part of the engine to check everything out. They wouldn't have been able to get it done that day, and it would have cost $1500 or more. Evan and I knew we did the right thing by trading it in.
The shower went decently well. Some people were super late. One person who said she was dying to see me again barely said hi and bye to me. Most people didn't buy off the registry...including my mother. Oh well. The food was good and I got lots of cute stuff. No clothes I want to post in the ugly thread at least. It just seemed like we were there forever and a day.
We came home Sunday. The drive sucked terribly as we got stuck in traffic for an hour. Some jackass in a truck cut me off and threw a rock at my car, putting a tiny chip in my windshield. Superficial yes, but it upset me as the car is only 2 days old. My mother in law got most of the baby's room painted so pretty much touch ups only needed to be done. Then carpeting! The sucky part is that we have no where to put all this shower stuff until then. Oh well.

that's brutal. The new car is awesome. but all that other shit blows. People are so rude, particularly that guy with the rock. Good luck with everything in life. It was nice meeting you when I did.
