Lazer Blade (8:30 pm)
landing in Central America eons ago, after a long, interstellar journey, the small piece of ore lay undisturbed for generations, sending its message of peace and hope telepathically to the corners of the earth. With the world in an ever increasing state of disarray, the ore, (having been forged generations earlier into the lazerblade), realizing time is growing too short to instill peace and harmony without outside help, enlists the 6 children of the blade to help spread its message throughout the world.
Nancy Ray-guns (10:30 pm)
who fuse elements of funk, folk, rock and jazz into a new funktastik groove. Their songs touch on issues as varied as the demise of the family farm, racial intolerance, the environment, and love on gravel roads. They promise to deliver dance numbers with killer bass riffs and magic - sure to please the prairie masses.
Mambo Madness - Odd Fellows Hall
[9 pm to 12 am]
Jeff Straker (9 pm)
is on the second leg of his Western Canadian tour, promoting his new album Songs from Highway 15. The Sask-born singer/songwriter/pianist recently returned from a tour in Panama sponsored by the Canadian Embassy, performing in various venues across the country and drinking plenty of cheap beer.
Jivedaddy and the Mambokings (10:30 pm)
are proud to make their Saskatchewan debut at the 2006 Cathedral Village Arts Festival. They are a high energy 11-piece Afro-Cuban Orchestra led by musical director, arranger and bassist Carlo Petrovitch, their set list contains some of the greatest hits of the salsa repertoire.
