ok..... I went to the eye doctor and lived to tell about it!
for me, this is a horrible experience to go through. I had a bad incident as a child that has left me a bit tarnished.
We had just moved to Colorado (I was perhaps eight years old at best) and I had developed severe hay fever. My poor eyes were blistered, puffy and in really bad shape. So off to the doctor I went. He put in some funky eyedrops to numb my eyes, scraped the inside of the lids with iodine, and took out the black light. after all was said and done, I looked to my mother and said "I'm feeling a bit queasy" and she asked "head queasy or stomach queasy?" I responded "stomach. . . no, wait, head queasy. . . um, both?!" at that point, I passed out. straight to the floor I went. All three of us... my mom, the doc, and me, were a bit surprised.
so, I have only been to the eye doctor twice since (today being the second!) (waite might be three times... I think I might have gone once in college... but heck, who truly remembers college.
ok... so that said... those damn eyedrops make me uber queasy. in a really bad way. so today, it was the last thing he did, and wouldn't you know, my head starts spinning, I start sweating, am practically crying... the doctor sat there grinning (I HAD warned him). He was like "oh, your psyching yourself out..." but then did mention that there are some cases where a nerve related to the eye connects somewhere funky in the back of the head... similar and common to folks who get car sick... well, it all meaks sense now, I can a bit dizzy even when I am driving as of lately.
but... that said. my eyes are good. he said if you REALLY want glasses... I can write you a prescription, but they would only be for reading. Now, this is tough, I have always wanted glasses since I was a kid. but... due to unemployment, (or, er, underemployment) its better to not spend the money.... however, the part time employer is offereing 40% all frames, plus out 10% discount.... I may go take a gander, just to see if I like anything. but otherwise, I'll wait. Course... if I go there, I might feel bad not buying at the appointment place cause they were uber on the friendly, and seemed to be just awesome good people.
anyway, I guess my eyes are still going strong. not sure how, but I won't argue. I'm no where near blind and my guess is, I will lose my hearing long before I lose my sight.
ok... now... what to do with the rest of the day.
I was thinking that there may be work involved. but it has yet to be confirmed. they may, or may not call. it was an iffy thing and the temp place was still waiting for vital paperwork before sending me.
