Last night I went to the "Chill 'n Mingle" in Hamtramck to see a co-worker and his band give a lil' performance. Silly me, I forgot my earplugs and completely had my ears blasted!
The bass was so heavy that the vibrations actually shook the contacts in my eyes - my vision was shaking!
That was pretty damn cool!!!
On the way home, I was driving through my subdivision @ around 2:30 am when all of a sudden I saw 6 pairs of gleaming eyes floating on a house's front lawn... I slowed the car down and came to realize there were 6 DEER standing in the front yard!!!
My jaw dropped as I rolled by. Quickly I turned my car around to see if I could get another look, but they were gone... I looked over into the scant cluster of trees across the street from the house and there they were standing. I actually started to cry a little bit. The cluster of trees used to be a beautifully wooded area but a new development behind my subdivision cleared away about 90% of the trees and brush.
I cried and I'm most certainly not ashamed to mention that fact. It absolutely slays me that in the name of progress (i.e. new construction) we are destroying the habitats of amazing creatures. And now as I'm writing this, more tears are coming...
I'm sorry little animals... I wish I could bring your homes back.

On a related note.. There was a deer in my neighbor's backyard last summer. I came out of my garage and there she was. This is in the middle of downtown Ferndale.
