her surgery went better than planned. they were unexpectedly able to save her ovary, clean up all of the scar tissue, and get rid of a cyst the size of a plum. no cancer, nothing dangerous left behind, no reduced fertility. I stayed by her side every minute of the day and night besides rushing down to the cafeteria for a bite of food, completely content being her man-slave... rubbing her down with lotion when her skin was dry, kneading her shoulders when they ached, helping her to and from the toilet, I even slept in a chair holding her hand and leaning my head against the rail on the side of her bed. I had to fight back my happiness in front of her family when the first words she said out of post-op recovery was "where's Rickie?"
