Recap of the weekend...
Saturday: Got outside! Ate dirt, sucked clean air, and romped around in the woods all afternoon. Good gravy!! That was just what the doctor ordered. Since I live in the city, I can't ever get into the sticks unless I make a big event out of it. My home town is in the middle of the wilderness, and I truly miss being able to strap on the backpack and launch out the back door to anywhere at a moment's notice. Now I have to make sure someone is watching my son, drive for half an hour to get to that place, buy an adventure pass, and stay on the designated trail. It's a far cry from what I'm used to, but it's still an improvement over the concrete jungle.
I came home and collapsed in front of the TV for a bit, then harvested my son. He didn't want to go to sleep right away. He thought it would be a good idea to spend the evening bouncing around the room. One of these days, they will legalize kiddie-downers. (just kidding
)
Sunday: We slept in!! So nice to not have to get up at an unseemly hour. After a healthy breakfast of bacon, eggs, and potatoes (real healthy!) I helped my sis fix her computer, ditched the boy wonder with grandma, and ran to the barbecue. I enjoyed being in adult company for a night, but it was strange being there and not spend the night chasing the child all over the place. The food was spectacular, including this Jamaican Jerk Lamb that stole the show at the end of my visit. I thought it was so good, I am attempting to duplicate it right now! It's marinating in my fridge as we speak.
I picked Aidan up by 8:00, went home, and was in bed by 10:30. I don't think I missed much of anything by staying in.
Monday came, and I spent the day rousting up all the ingredients for the afore-mentioned Jerk Lamb. I took a friend to see Fahrenheit 9/11, and was not disappointed for seeing it twice in less than two weeks. The more people I can bring to this movie, the more of a difference I can make. Register to vote and get involved with your government, losers!!
