I think it may be time for some new running shoes - I've had these for about 14 months or so, and despite going through periods where I wasn't going to the gym regularly, I've still put a lot of miles on them. After talking to Bart, that seems to be a pretty reasonable explanation why I'm having problems with my shins. I just finished up another 3 miles on the treadmill, and right now, they are PISSED.
I did 4 miles early on Saturday morning, and they ached pretty much all day, but after taking a day off on Sunday they were feeling a lot better. Until last night, that is. I managed to tough it out for last night's session, but tonight I had to break down and walk the last 20 minutes. No bueno. Tomorrow is a rest day, and I'm planning to walk for the entirety of Thursday's workout, just to make sure I don't wind up aggravating this any further. Hopefully I'll be back to normal in time to do another 4 miles on Saturday morning.
Still working on cutting the fast food and the soda out of my diet. Soda really isn't that difficult, since I enjoy drinking water and go through a few bottles a day, but sometimes I need an energy drink or something to perk me up. As far as fast food goes, on most days I do pretty good, but on a busy day it's hard to pass up the convenience of grabbing a sandwich at the drive-thru. After I hit the grocery store this weekend, I'm gonna try to do a better job of planning ahead, making food the night before so I have something to bring to work and that sort of thing.
Speaking of planning ahead - I spend entirely too much fucking money going to bars and going out to eat. If I'm going to be able to afford all the things I still want to do this year, then a major lifestyle change is in order. I went through my bank account earlier and looked at what I've spent just over the past couple of weeks. Fucking ridiculous. Gonna start budgeting for that sort of thing, and setting aside some money every time I get paid so I can have a little bit of a nest egg built up.
Also need to get a passport.
And a haircut.
And goodnight.
