The remainder of my vacation was pretty much the same as the beginning. Spent some time in the gym, got caught up on some movies, hung out with some folks, and did some gaming. It felt nice to be away from the stress and from the day-to-day running of the store, but by the end of the weekend I was ready to go back. There's only so much relaxing one can do before you start to get restless.
I think I may post some of the writing I've done lately. No one has seen it yet, and I generally welcome some honest, direct feedback. Still not sure, though. But perhaps. Maybe.
After talking about it for far too long, I'm finally getting myself back into a regular routine at the gym. I went four times last week, and today will be my third time this week. I haven't had fast food for awhile now, and I've been pretty careful about what I've been eating and when I've been eating it. I've lost six pounds since the beginning of my vacation, so that gives me some encouragement. Sunmaid Fruit Bits are my new best friend, too.
And thank you, Kate, for introducing me to Sushi Happy Hour.
Today will most likely be the day that the dreaded holiday shopping rush kicks into high gear. We've seen a steady increase in traffic flow lately, and the past couple of days we've been deluged with a massive amount of game systems and accessories to sell, so much that we literally DO NOT have the room to store it all comfortably. In an effort to drive business, we posted an ad on Craigslist yesterday, informing the world that yes, in fact, we DO have the Nintendo Wii in stock, and yes, you should come buy it from us. I guess we're about to see if that pays off.
We've got extended hours from now until Xmas Eve, and despite the fact that I've got family coming into town to visit over the holiday, I'm being told that I'm required to work six days that week. This means I'll get the 25th off, and then I'll take the 28th and 29th to spend with my family, since they're planning on leaving the morning of the 30th. It irritates me that they'll be here for almost a week and I won't have a lot of time with them, but I suppose that's the sacrifice one must make in order to work in retail.
I need to start getting ready. Just a couple more weeks. Then things will slow back down and life can return to normal.
