I've been sickly for the past couple of days. Woke up yesterday with a sore throat and my sinuses horribly congested, and despite consuming large quantities of Vitamin C (thank you, Jamba Juice) during the day, and hot tea spiked with whiskey all last night, I wasn't much better today. I spent the vast majority of today sleeping, waking up sporadically to play videogames or drink more tea. I haven't taken a shower or changed out of my pajamas, and I don't particularly care if that's gross or not.
I don't feel well, so you can get fucked.
Apparently, some douchebag saw fit to throw something through the glass entry door of my store tonight. I got a phonecall from the folks at Hollywood about it, and it seemed like I was going to have to drive out there to hang around until the emergency maintenance people showed up, but I was able to get in touch with Kieran and send her down there, instead. She lives a hell of a lot closer than I do, and she doesn't come in tomorrow until the afternoon, so luckily she was willing to help me out. I did NOT want to drive down there and be there til all hours of the night, only to drive home and come right back tomorrow morning to open the store.
MySpace is currently giving me an error message when trying to upload a few new photos. Cocksucker.
The writing continues to progress, albeit slowly. I haven't had a lot of free time this past week, and what little bit I've enjoyed has been spent playing "Gears of War 2" online with Dave and assorted others. I'm off work on Tuesday, however, and if I'm feeling better I intend to spend a few hours camped out in front of the computer, rather than in front of the TV.
I'm reasonably sure that coconut rum and orange juice does not qualify as a cold remedy. But it's got Vitamin C, so fuck it.
After the first three episodes of "Legend of the Seeker," I'm still having mixed feelings about it. While enjoyable on its own merits, it's a very loose adaptation of the source material (Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" novels, FYI). The principle characters are all present (so far, anyway), and while they retain some resemblance to their literary counterparts, there have been a few changes that I'm not sure I care for, including some major connections between certain characters being eliminated entirely. Major events in the plot have also been altered greatly for no discernible reason, and the whole thing feels as though it has been toned down and simplified, which is precisely what I had hoped would NOT happen. However, the casting is well done, and the performances are about as good as can be expected with the cheesy dialogue - really, couldn't they just have pulled more from the actual pages? There's a reason that every fucking one of the books hit the New York Times Bestseller list.
They're WELL WRITTEN.
On the subject of TV, I'm interested to see what happens with "Heroes" now that the two head writers have been given the boot. I've enjoyed the new season thus far, especially the direction they're taking Sylar's character. I know the ratings haven't been what the network has been looking for, but hopefully bringing on a new writing team isn't just a knee-jerk reaction. We'll see. As far as other TV goes, "Dexter" and "Californication" continue to be fantastic. I just hate waiting a week between episodes.
I would also really like to find a band to sing for.
