Went with Dave to see a sneak preview of "W" last night in Scottsdale. I enjoyed it, he didn't. I thought they did a fairly even-handed portrayal of the man, although the film could certainly have benefited from better editing - parts of it dragged horribly, and if not for the superb performance turned in by Josh Brolin, I would've lost interest several times along the way. Luckily, the rest of the cast was solid as well, particularly Richard Dreyfuss as a scheming, sinister Dick Cheney that reminded me a lot of Emperor Palpatine. Whether or not you're a Bush fan, the film is an interesting take on the man's life, and worth checking out.
Watched the final presidential debate tonight with Kate, Matt, and Dave. Just like the previous two, McCain seemed to be the aggressor, taking jabs and scoring a few points, but ultimately failing to successfully address many of the pressing issues, preferring instead to continue to rattle of half-truths and misleading statements regarding Obama's proposals regarding health care and the future of our economy. Obama, meanwhile, remained calm and composed, and unlike his opponent, questioned neither McCain's character or integrity, instead choosing to illustrate the differences between their ideas and histories, and sticking to the issues unless stopping to correct McCain on yet another inaccuracy.
If you're curious, have a look at the CNN Political Ticker, which does a superb job of fact-checking statements made by both campaigns.
Anyway. I don't want to turn this into a political soapbox, so that's all I'll say on the subject. Vote Obama.
