Alright. Quick update, because I have a bunch of shit to get done.
Tuesday night, Dave and I watched a Bob Saget stand-up comedy special from HBO. It was probably one of the funniest and most offensive things I've ever seen. From jokes about banging Kimmy Gibler (as well as all of his daughter's friends) to ridiculing a fan in the audience for having sex with animals to playing acoustic guitar and singing "Danny Tanner is Not Gay," his onstage persona was every bit as depraved as I had always heard. Excellent stuff.
Wednesday we got passes to a sneak preview of a movie called "Sex Drive." On the surface, it appeared to be your typical "American Pie" sort of teen comedy - hopeless virgin meets a girl on the internet, and sets off on a cross-country drive to nail her. But there were tons of unexpected twists along the way, along with some hilarious cameos... not to mention a giant Mexican Donut outfit. All in all, it was much better than I expected it to be, and I'm curious to see it again in a couple of months when it officially releases, to see if they changed anything.
The situation with my contacts has been rectified. The one in my left eye was the wrong prescription, which was why I was still having some minor issues. We tweaked things a bit, and then ordered the final lenses. Looks like no more glasses for me.
Last night I hung out at Cue Club and The Tavern with Kate, Matt, and the rest of the Thursday night crew. When Dave finally got out of work, he picked me up and we headed over to Clicks for some pool and some whiskey. We were there for a couple of hours, during which time I think I managed to win one fucking game, but that's par for the course, really. The combination of well-poured drinks, decent music (except for some douche playing Nickelback on the jukebox), and adorable server (with a blinged-out skull and crossbones belt) made for an enjoyable evening. Dave agreed that the atmosphere was reminiscent of our favorite bar from back home, and was all for the idea of coming back next week, when I get back from Vegas.
Speaking of Vegas - we leave early Sunday for the National Sales Conference. I had a good time last year, but this year they seem to be much more strict about enforcing the dress code. I'll have to wear long sleeves to cover my tattoos while we're there, and even though we're doing excessive amounts of walking every day, we're still expected to wear dress shoes. I'm gonna hit up Target and see about getting some cheapy dress shoes that are still marginally comfortable, because the shoes I already own are fucking terrible.
Anyway. We fly out on Sunday, and the awards banquet is that night. The next two days are the meeting rooms, where each vendor and publisher details the products they have coming out for the holiday season. Wednesday is the trade show, where we'll get a chance to sample a lot of the forthcoming games for ourselves, and then we'll fly home later that evening. Breakfast each day is at 7:30, and we'll be doing work-related stuff until about 10:00 every night, so there really isn't a lot of opportunity to go out and enjoy Vegas, unless you don't mind the lack of sleep.
But they have an open bar every night. So that's awesome.
