My roommate, who is affectionately referred to as "Asian Dave" in order to differentiate from other Daves, has lived in Arizona his entire life, and thus has little to no experience with any sort of weather that isn't consistently warm. He decided to come out to the Half Moon with us on Sunday evening, and on the way there, he happened to notice my ice-scraper, which was lying in the backseat (the car had been vacuumed earlier that weekend, so everything that was normally on the floor had been picked up). He began to examine it, turning it over in his hands with a look of genuine confusion on his face. Finally he looked at me and asked "Dude, what the fuck is this?"
"It's an ice scraper," I told him matter-of-factly.
"What do you use it for?"
"To scrape ice...?"
"From where?"
"From the windshield, man."
"Why would there be ice on your windshield?"
"Because when it snows, the snow will often freeze to the windshield, and you need to scrape the ice away in order to drive the car."
"Really?"
"Yes, dude. Really."
Awesome.
Dave (the non-Asian version) and I shot a few scenes for a friend's independent film last weekend. It was one of those spur-of-the-moment sort of things. She called me up and asked if I was interested in getting involved, and of course I was, so we popped over to her apartment. I shot about 10-15 minutes of dialogue, almost completely ad-libbed, and she and her roommate were able to coerce Dave into playing the part of her Nascar-watching, sexual deviant alcoholic boyfriend. Let me tell you, THOSE scenes were fantastic. It was easily one of the most interesting evenings in recent memory. More on that as it develops, of course.
I'm getting back into a regular routine at the gym, and my body has been more than a little pissed because of it. At the end of last week, I could barely lift my arms above my head, and my legs felt as though they were made of Jell-o. This week, however, I feel pretty good. I stocked up on groceries so I can start taking my lunch to work every day, and I'm going to attempt to only drink on Sunday nights, which is when we all get together at Half Moon for $2 Jack. We'll see how things go from here.
"The Dark Knight" tonight at midnight. OMFG.
