Shit. I've been here a week and still haven't updated. My free time has been spent drinking, catching up with people, drinking, settling into the new house, drinking, showing Dave around the area, drinking, getting acclimated to the new job, and drinking. I probably could've squeezed some writing in there somewhere, but I figured my first entry from my new desert home should probably be a sober one.
The road trip was pretty awesome. I had some great conversations with Bart, we saw some unintentionally hilarious road signs along the way, and most importantly, we stopped in Amarillo, Texas, to desecrate a religious monument. I would provide photo documentation, but I'm pretty sure no one wants to see a picture of my nutsack. If I'm wrong, let me know. Heh.
The first weekend was filled with a tremendous amount of drinking, being Kate's 21st and all. Poor Bart spent the majority of the first evening passed out in the backseat of my car, and he was still feeling the effects when I dropped him off at the airport the next afternoon. Most of Saturday was spent running errands and driving all over the goddamn city, so Dave and I were both passed out by 11:00. We were back in the company of Kate for Sunday afternoon and evening, and Dave opted to crash there and continue his odyssey of alcohol while I was at work on Monday. We opted for another trip out to the bar on Monday night, and Dave chose to sleep while I went out again Tuesday night with the GC kids.
So yeah. Now that the first weekend and all the "welcome back" sort of stuff is done with, I'm gonna have to scale back on the drinking. I've got a lot of work to do with my new store, and I need to get back into the routine of hitting the gym three or four times a week. I worked out on Monday night, but sometime on Tuesday I managed to severely fuck up my foot, and now it hurts a bit to walk on it. The pain isn't nearly as bad as it was when it first happened, but I still don't think running 2 miles would be advisable. Guess I could do my cardio on one of the bikes, instead.
It's great to be back. Seriously. I fucking love this place. And not only do two of my best friends in the world live here, they live in the SAME FUCKING HOUSE. How awesome is that? Pretty fucking awesome, if you ask me.
It's gonna be a great year. I can totally feel it.
