Someone pointed out that I haven't talked about my whole "lose weight and get in shape" thing in awhile, and inquired as to whether or not I was still making progress Truth be told, it's become such a normal part of my routine that writing about it has sort of slipped my mind. I'm still going to the gym three or four times each week, and since January 21st my weight has gone from 254 pounds to 229 pounds, as of this morning's weigh-in (although I fluctuate from day to day). I probably should have lost more, but I've been a little lax on my eating habits for the past few weeks - fried foods, snacks, more alcohol than usual - mostly attributed to the fact that I've been too lazy to go to the grocery store. However, I remedied that yesterday, so now the refrigerator is stocked with healthy stuff and I should be getting back on track.
I find that running into people I don't see too often has become a supreme confidence booster. I had dinner with Shannon a couple of weeks ago, the first time I had hung out with her since November, and she kept talking about how much weight I had lost. Then Friday night, Bart's brother-in-law came into the store with his girlfriend, and with a genuine look of surprise asked "Dude, what happened to the rest of you?" I didn't quite understand what he was talking about at first, and when I asked him to explain he said "You've lost a lot of weight, you look really good."
To further illustrate my point, compare these pictures.
That's me with Kieran, taken during my trip to Arizona in June 2006. Fuck, I look bloated.
That's me with the broad from "Hellraiser," taken less than a month ago at HorrorHound. See the difference?
So that's that. Still working out, still losing weight, still feeling a lot better about myself. A lot of people (myself included) expected me to give up after a few weeks, but it's been just over three months and I haven't quit yet, nor do I have any intention of doing so. So for those that have been supportive - thank you. I greatly appreciate it.
And for those that doubt(ed) me - I just got home from a workout, so I've got some sweaty nuts. Eat em.
