Greetings, faithful readers.
After less than four hours of sleep, i woke up yesterday morning with a MONSTROUS hangover. Events from the previous evening were somewhat hazy, but after examining my bulletin, blog post, and sent text messages, i determined that i had consumed entirely too much alcohol. I spent most of the morning begging my brain not to burst through my eye sockets.
My store sponsored a "Guitar Hero II" tournament yesterday. It was a fairly decent turnout - about fifteen players, and quite a few spectators. Sleeve had been training like Sylvester Stallone in "Rocky" for the past two weeks, and during the warm-up he was pretty intimidating. A lot of people figured he would take home the victory, but alas, that was not to be the case.
He did, however, get a full box of Headshot Energy Bars for the second-place finish. Not bad.
I took a much-needed nap after the tournament, then headed out to Poker Night, where i was taken out before we had even played ten goddamn hands. I stuck around for awhile longer, sitting around the kitchen table and chatting with everyone, then headed for home.
On the way, however, i decided i wasn't quite ready to go home, so i stopped in at Sheena's bar She had just clocked out when i got there, so we sat at a table in the back, had a few drinks, and watched two dudes get into a fight (the same thing happened the previous night).
When it was time for the bar to close, we decided a late-night excursion to Denny's was just about the best possible idea to ever be conceived, so after dropping Sheena's car at her place and stopping in at Walgreen's to buy balloon animals, we set out to obtain some smothered cheese fries and other assorted goodies. We sat there for more than two hours, drinking coffee, assembling some interesting balloon creatures (i don't really think "animals" would be an accurate description), and talking about a number of different things.
Sometimes it's hard to believe that Sheena and i have been friends for so many years - we've drifted apart from each other here and there, but we always seem to find our way back, and our friendship has always endured. She continues to be one of my absolute favorite people to hang out with, especially when hanging out involves coffee, shitty food, and late-night conversations. She's a lot more down-to-earth than i think most people give her credit for, and the fact that we share a lot of the same views on life makes it a lot easier to be completely candid and honest with each other.
Granted, that level of honesty played a pretty big role in the fact that we sat at Denny's until damn near 6am, but that's beside the point.
Should be something of a hectic week at the job. I'm training a new guy, we've got inventory on Wednesday, and i have to start getting all my ducks in a row so that when i leave for vacation in a couple of weeks, my store continues to run smoothly.
That reminds me - for all my Arizona kids: Daddy's coming home, June 7-13. IHOP, Rocky, and who knows what else. Let's start making plans.
